World Health Day

Schools are the major institutions next to the family for providing the instruction and experiences that prepare young people for their roles as healthy, productive adults. Schools can–and invariably do–play a powerful role in influencing students’ health-related behaviors. Appropriate school interventions can thus foster effective education, prevent destructive behavior, and promote enduring health practices. For many young people in their formative years, the school may be the only nurturing and supportive place where they learn health information and have positive behavior consistently. Thus, nothing would serve better and be full of impact rather than guiding and motivating our learners to be self-conscious about their health on and during the approach of World Health day.

World Health Day is celebrated each year on 7th April globally. The day marks the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO) and aims to draw attention to important health issues facing the world each year. The decision to have a day dedicated to World health was taken at the first conference of WHO in 1948 in Geneva. In 1948, the WHO held the First World Health Assembly.

The theme for 2020’s world health day was ‘International year of the nurses and midwives with the tagline ‘Support nurses and midwives to celebrate their contributions, especially during COVID-19.

World Health Day targets all the health issues on a global basis for which several programs are organized yearly by the WHO and other related health organizations at various places like schools, colleges, and other crowded places. It is celebrated to remember the establishment of the World Health Organization as well as draw the attention of people towards the major health issues in the world. Take care of your body, It’s the only place you have to live in. Instilling the importance of good health in schools helps students to make healthy life choices when they grow older and continue doing so throughout their lives. It helps them understand the dangers of falling victim to hazardous diseases or addiction of any kind.

Good health facilitates children’s growth, development, and optimal learning, while education contributes to children’s knowledge about being healthy. Studies of young people have found that health-risk behaviors negatively affect:

a) Education Outcomes: including class grades, and performance on standardized tests;

b) Education Behaviors: including attendance, dropout rates, behavioral problems, and degree of involvement in school activities such as homework and extracurricular activities and

c) Student Attitudes: including aspirations for postsecondary education, feelings about safety at school, and positive personal attitudes. Knowing all the above facts we here at the Gajera Trust thus have taken an initiative to educate and make aware our kids, their parents, and the society on the whole by catering various health concerning regimes to and for serving society.

“He who has health has hope, and he who has hope has everything.”
